Spanish A- 7th grade:

Spanish A for 7th grade is the first half of Spanish I.  Upon successful completion of this course, you will move onto Spanish B as an eighth grader.  Spanish A begins with an introduction to Spanish which includes basic conversational expressions, numbers and time, weather, the alphabet, and more.  From there, we move into vocabulary, grammar, and culturally-based units which cover topics such as:  self-description, things you like to do, school/classes/supplies, food, places you go, and more.  We begin speaking, reading, writing and listening to the language in a meaningful yet simple context, and will continue to develop these skills over the course of the year.

Exploration- 5th Grade:  Welcome to Jefferson, new 5th graders!

Exploration is a 9-week rotation class, which alternates with gym class (A-B days). In this class, we ‘explore’ history, culture, literature, and a small bit of language of the Spanish/Hispanic worlds.  This is a class in English, and no Spanish-speaking background is necessary.  While learning about the various topics, students will relate those learning areas to their own experiences living in Eastern Tennessee and elsewhere.  Most activities/work will be completed in class, with time outside of class to finish if needed.  It is important that all work be completed and turned in to receive maximum points.  Let’s explore!

Exploration: week  1-4 June

1.     Finish Don Quixote

2.     Ending Game

Homework:

Most work completed in class.  If you do not complete it during class time, be sure to turn it in to receive credit.
